The Boys Camp In Shenandoah

The boys left for their camping trip last Saturday morning for a real Boy Scout adventure.
The goal was to camp and do a five mile hike.
However, they also got to camp in 29 degree weather.
They decided to let the boys do an experiment and left water in containers outside of tents to see it freeze.  I guess it made for slow coffee making as I see two coffee presses on the table amid the frost.

Once everyone was up, fed and packed, they began their hike.
Notice how bundled up the two are.

With all that hiking, and the sun beating down,
it must have gotten warmer on the high rock ledge they stopped on for lunch and pictures.

The brave crew from their troop.

The views from atop the cliff.

I guess it never changes, a boy must climb a rock, for no other purpose than to do it.

Actually, according to Meg Meeker's book Boys Should Be Boys,
they have a need to challenge their bodies and minds at this stage of development.
Scouts is a safe and fun way for them to do just that.
Please support your local Boy Scout!

USNA Men's Soccer Game

For the end of season party,
Anton's soccer team went to see a Men's Soccer game at USNA.

It was a good game!
It went into a Sudden Death over time with Navy scoring the last goal against Holy Cross!

Isabella was standing closer to the field
in hopes to catch a t-shirt thrown into the audience each time Navy scored.
She did not get one, but one of the boys in our group did.

Pumpkin Carving 2011

Anton actually hates this part as he hates the feel of the insides on his hands.
He is so tactile!

Isabella on the other hand is happy to be in the mess!
She is my finger painter and loves to work with her hands!

The dogs love to eat pumpkin!
I will often give the the extra from a can when I am baking.
Pumpkin is very good for dogs.
They smell the fresh pumpkin and are hoping for a snack from the kids!

Monet in Tissue Paper

This Art project was using tissue paper to recreate a Monet painting.
You can not tell from the picture, but these have lots of texture and depth with dimension.

Isabella's is above.  Her art is a recreation of one of many Water Lilies
Anton's is below and he used his favorite, Japanese Bridge.
