Time to break out the Canner!

It has been beautiful here for those who can manage their allergies to get outside!
After horse back riding yesterday, we met up with some friends to pick one of our favorite fruits, strawberries!
I love real strawberries!
The ones trekked in from the west coast are not real to me. They are picked before ripe, you know the ones that are white inside and lack flavor. So I wait with bated breath for the day the pick your own fields are ready. We go and pick for a couple hours and begin the next few days of saving our spring find for those dark days of winter.
This year we picked 48 pounds, three flats full!

I already have two gallon freezer bags full of cut frozen wonderfully ripe strawberries!
Today we plan on making jam, eating some all day, and saving some for a pie!
